What a great way to spend a winters day blasting around the hills of Blackmount!
17 riders showed up for our ride at Brunel Peaks Station with a little bit of low cloud hanging in the hills. After a briefing we formed a plan of attack and we were off, climbing rather quickly and
gathering some spectacular views, challenging riding that warmed us up quickly indeed. We dropped back down to the base of the mountains and crossed a creek and there were a few laughs at various attempts. Crossing a rather deep bog we headed back up the other side and we split
the group, as the next section would put anyones bike and skills to the test. A rather nasty rocky steep climb to the top to a trig station which had views of Stewart Island on one side and Lake Manapouri on the other. Defiantly some very red faces and hot bikes at the top,
including mine. Roger had put some war paint on his face along the way, dedication thats what we like. After meeting back up with the rest of the riders we headed back down for lunch.
After we refueled our bikes and added some water to them we tackled the Blackmount side with some switch back farm tracks over the back and along the way stopping for some hill climbs with one of them at the end of the day
proving to be a bit of a hit with new lines being formed for extra challenges, back to the cars about 3.30pm.
Thanks for the great turnout see you all on next ride.
